Families in Oldham looking for affordable activities during the school summer holidays can take advantage of a series of low-cost craft sessions taking place nearby in Middleton.
M24 Arts, based at Pioneer Mill on Lodge Street, is running drop-in activities every Tuesday and Thursday for children aged four and over, with each activity costing less than Β£5.
The sessions offer another option for Oldham families looking for local days out without the cost or planning involved in larger attractions. No advance booking is required, with children able to choose a craft, make their own creation and take it home the same day.
Many of the materials used come from the M24 Arts Scrapstore, which collects donated and surplus creative supplies including fabric, paper, card, yarn, buttons and ribbons.
The reuse of these materials helps keep prices low while also encouraging children to think creatively about items that might otherwise have gone to waste.
Charlotte Taylor, Director of M24 Arts, said: βWe wanted to offer something genuinely affordable and genuinely fun. The Scrapstore makes that possible. The children never quite know what theyβre going to find, and thatβs part of the magic.β
The Scrapstore is also open to the public during the week, with a changing selection of donated craft materials available for reuse.
The summer sessions take place every Tuesday and Thursday throughout the school holidays at M24 Arts, 7β15 Lodge Street, Middleton. They are open to children aged four and over and cost under Β£5.
